MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/26/09)-- Concordia senior point guard Jenna Freudenberg (Parkers Prairie, Minn.) was named the MIAC Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday.

It is the first time in her career that she has won the weekly award and she becomes the first Cobber player to earn the honor since Melanie Hageman won the award on Jan. 15, 2008.

Jenna Freudenberg averaged 15.7 points and 6.0 assists and shot 93.3% from the free throw line in Concordia's three big wins last week as the team went 3-0.

The Cobbers posted wins over conference top-tier teams St. Thomas and Gustavus to remain tied atop the MIAC standings. Freudenberg averaged 34 minutes played in the three games and her play as the team's point guard and senior leader has helped the MIAC’s hottest team win five straight games and 10 of its last 11.

Freudenberg started the week by scoring 16 points and adding four assists and five rebounds in the team's 76-55 win at St. Olaf. It marked the third straight road game that Concordia had won by at least 20 points. She then followed that performance by scoring 17 points against St. Thomas in the team's 74-64 win at home. She also had four assists and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. On Saturday Freudenberg capped her week by scoring 14 points and adding 10 assists in the Cobbers' 71-58 win over Gustavus.

For the season Freudenberg is fourth in the conference in scoring and third in assists.
