MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/08/07)-- Concordia senior guard Annie Keeley (Grafton, N.D.) and junior forward Melanie Hageman (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) were named to the prestigious ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) it was announced on Thursday.

Hageman was selected to the Academic All-District Second Team while Keeley was placed on the All-District Third Team. It is the first time in both players' careers that they have earned the ultimate academic district honor. Hageman carries a 3.73 grade point average while majoring in biology and Keeley has a 3.87 grade point average and is majoring in nursing.

The teammates are two of only three players from the MIAC that earned Academic All-District honors. They are joined by Gustavus' Bri Monahan who was named to the All-District Third Team.

The honor is given to athletes in the College Division of the Academic All-American award. The College Division includes players from Division II, III and NAIA from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana schools. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to be nominated. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.20 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. College sports information directors in the district vote for the teams.

The women's basketball college division is one of the toughest in the entire program. Over 80 athletes were nominated in the district with only 16 student/athletes earning all-district honors.

Keeley recently became the school's all-time 3-point field goal leader. She also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark during the 2006-07 season. She currently has 1,255 career points and is ninth on the program's all-time scoring list. She is second on the team in scoring this season with a 15.9 points per game average which is the highest in her four-year career. She is also sixth in the MIAC in scoring, fifth in 3-point field goal percentage and fourth in 3-point field goals made.

Like Keeley, Hageman also surpassed the 1,000-point barrier during the year. She now has 1,092 career points and is 14th on the all-time scoring list at Concordia. She leads the team in scoring in 2006-07 with a 17.5 points per game average and has scored in double figures in 18 of the team's 22 games this year. She is second in the conference in scoring and field goal percentage and sixth in rebounding.

The two players have helped the Cobbers to a 15-7 record so far this season. The team is currently in sole possession of third place in the MIAC standings with a 13-6 record and needs only one more win to clinch their fifth straight MIAC playoff appearance.
