MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/1/10)-- For the first time in three games Concordia scored more than 48 points, but unfortunately for the Cobbers they also allowed more than 70 points for the first time in nine games and lost 75-63 at Hamline. The loss is the second straight for CC and it marks the first time in seven games that the Cobbers have lost to the Pipers.

Concordia is now 12-4 in the conference and drops into third place in the league standings. The Cobbers are 13-6 in all games. The win keeps the Pipers tied for the sixth, and final, playoff spot in the MIAC. HU is now 7-9 in the conference and tied with St. Kate's and Bethel. Hamline is now 9-10 overall.

The game swung in favor of Hamline in the final five minutes of the first half. With the score tied at 23-23, the Pipers went on a 9-3 run to close out the period and grab a six-point lead at 32-26 heading into the second half. HU then added to their lead in the first five minutes of the second half as they pushed the margin to 12 points by outscoring CC 10-4. The Cobbers were able to get to within five points on a pair of occasions and it looked like they might be able to rally for the win but then Hamline closed out the game by making three field goals and a free throw in the next four possessions and held CC scoreless during that same stretch. The Cobbers were never able to recover from that body blow and couldn’t get within single digits for the final 10 minutes.

Despite scoring over 60 points for the first time in three games, Concordia was still off target from the outside. The Cobbers shot just 25.8% (8-for-31) from outside the arc. CC has not shot better than 26% from 3-point range in three consecutive games. The 31 3-point attempts was a season high for Concordia. The Cobbers were led by Erica Nord who had 14 points to go along with eight assists and five rebounds. Lindsey Schultz added 13 points and eight rebounds while Tricia Sorensen chipped in 11 points and Anna Matetich had eight points and eight rebounds.

Hamline shot 54.2% (26-for-48) from the floor, 46.2% (6-for-13) from 3-point range and connected on 17 free throws – three more than CC attempted all game. HU was led by Mary Wilkowski who had 19 points and 10 rebounds.
