Concordia senior Jenna Freudenberg scored a career-high 25 points in the Cobbers' 80-68 win over Carleton on Wednesday. She also had seven assists and three rebounds in the game.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/28/09)-- Every time Carleton tried to make a run and get close to Concordia in the second half on Wednesday, the Cobbers had an answer and held the Knights at bay en route to an 80-68 win over Carleton in Northfield. The win is the sixth straight for CC and 11th in the past 12 games. Concordia is now 13-4 overall and 12-2 in conference play and remains tied for the lead in the MIAC standings.

If Carleton continually asked questions in the second half then the top answer-person for the Cobbers was senior point guard Jenna Freudenberg who scored 14 points in the second half and finished with a career-high 25 points. She was 4-for-7 from 3-point range and 8-for-16 from the floor to help CC keep the Knight's at arms length. Sophomore Maggie Bauernfeind finished with 16 points and broke out of a recent scoring slump to record only her second double-digit point total in the last seven games.

The Knights had three players in double figures in the game. They were led by Hannah Oken-Berg who was 8-for-13 from the floor and 8-for-8 from the free throw line to finish with 24 points. Annie Isler had 14 points and Sarah Lincoln added 10 points.

The game's swing point might have come midway through the first half. Concordia trailed by seven at 18-11 and then went on a 12-4 run to grab a one-point lead at 23-22 with 6:29 to play in the first half. CC then finished off the half with a 15-7 run and took a 38-29 lead into the break.

The second half was spent by Carleton making a run to chip into the Concordia lead and then the Cobbers responding by countering with a run of their own. The Knights were able to cut the lead to five points at one point in the second period but then CC scored the next five points and retook a 10-point advantage. Concordia held a 19-point lead at 75-56 with just over 3:00 to play but Carleton finished off the game on a 12-5 run to finish off at 80-68.

The Cobbers will look to extend their winning streak when they play at Bethel on Saturday, Jan. 30 at  p.m. and then at Hamline on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.
