(3/06/08)-- Four Concordia players earned MIAC postseason awards it was announced by the league office on Thursday. Senior Melanie Hageman (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference First Team for the third straight season, while Jenna Freudenberg (Jr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) and Sara Sorbo (So., Adams, N.D./Adams-Edmore HS) were placed on the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Freshman Erica Nord (Wolveton, Minn./Barnesville HS) was the squad's honoree on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. The four players helped Concordia earn their sixth straight MIAC playoff appearance. The Cobbers finished the year with a 16-10 overall mark, which marks the fifth straight year they have had at least 15 total victories. In the conference CC went 15-7 to record their 25th consecutive season with at least 10 league wins. For Hageman it is just another honor in the long list of postseason awards. She has earned D3hoops.com All-West Region Second Team honors the past two seasons and this year was already named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Team. Hageman led the team in scoring in 2007-08 with a 16.9 points per game average. She also led the team in rebounding by averaging 7.4 rebounds per game. Hageman finished the season with six double-doubles on the year and scored at least 20 points in eight games. In conference play she averaged 17.5 points per game and finished second in the conference in scoring average. She was also tied for eighth in rebounding (7.3 rebounds per game) and sixth in free throw percentage (83.1%). Hageman finished her four years with 1,625 points and 690 rebounds. She is fourth on the school’s all-time scoring list and eighth on the rebounding chart. She was the 10th player in school history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds. Freudenberg was the team's point guard and emerged as a scoring threat during the year. She was second on the team in scoring with a 10.1 points per game average and led the team in assists with 93. In league games she averaged 10.0 points per game and 3.7 assists per game. She was third in the league in assist to turnover ratio (1.32) and fifth in assists per game. She was also seventh in MIAC in free throw percentage (82.2). Freudenberg scored in double figures in 11 conference games and had a career-high 19 points in the Cobbers' quarterfinal playoff loss at Carleton. Sorbo was one of the key ingredients behind the Cobber defense. She helped Concordia finish second in the MIAC in steals per game (11.05) and first in rebounding defense (31.4). Sorbo led the team in steals this season, averaging 2.23 per game. She was third on the team in scoring with an 8.5 points per game average. In conference play she averaged 8.1 points per game, 2.5 assists per game and 2.45 steals per game. She was fifth in the MIAC in steals per game. Nord steadily improved throughout the season in her freshman year. She averaged 5.2 points per game and was also a huge part of the team's defensive success. Like Sorbo, Nord's aggressive man-to-man defense helped CC lead the league in several categories. She finished third on the team in steals (33) and was also third in assists per game (1.8). She also had a career-high in points in the team's final game of the year. Against Carleton in the MIAC playoffs she scored 14 points and was 4-for-8 from 3-point range.
