Game Recap:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (12/09/06)-- Concordia scored a season-high 87 points and senior guard Annie Keeley scored her 1,00th career point as the Cobbers outgunned St. Kate's 87-80 on Saturday in St. Paul.

The loss is the first of the season for the Wildcats who entered the game 3-0 in the conference and 5-0 overall. The Cobbers win for the second consecutive time in conference play and move to 2-1 in the MIAC and 4-2 overall.

Concordia had five different players score in double-digits. Keeley finished the game with 18 points and now has 1,008 on her career. She became the 20th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point barrier when she hit a jumper to give CC a 48-46 lead at the 18:42 mark of the second half.

Melanie Hageman led Concordia in scoring with 23 points. She also added 13 rebounds to record her second double-double of the season. Her 13 rebounds is a season high. Hageman also led the team in assists. She dished out a season-high five helpers in the game.

Sarah Krabbenhoft knocked down a season-high 19 points and went 8-of-12 from the field. She also hauled in a season-high 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the year.

Jessica Heintz and Ashley King were the two remaining Cobber players with at least 10 points. Heintz went 3-of-4 from behind the arc and finished with 12 points and King was 5-of-7 from the floor and had 11 points.

The game was a high-scoring affair from the very onset as the two teams combined to score 41 points in the first 10 minutes of play and were tied 44-44 at the halftime break. In the opening period, the teams changes leads seven times and there were five ties including the very end when the Wildcats' Sarah Schneider scored on a lay-up in the final two seconds of the half.

The second half started with a bang for the Cobbers as they scored 13 of the first 19 points in the first five minutes of play to grab a 57-50 lead. From there, St. Kate's would cut the lead to one at 63-62 with 11:22 left to play in the game but that would be as close as the Wildcats would get as CC proceeded to run off 14 of the next 18 points to push the lead to 11 at 77-66 with 7:48 remaining to play.

St. Kate's made one final push to get the game to within five at 85-80 with 1:05 to play, but the Cobbers were able to hold on to the lead after making a pair of free throws and limiting the Wildcats to force up bad shots.

In the end, Concordia shot 50.0% (31-of-62) from the floor and 40.9% (9-of-22) from 3-point range. It is the first time in four games that CC has shot better than 32% from behind the arc. Concordia held a 38-28 advantage in rebounding. The Cobbers also had a 30-22 edge in points scored in the paint.

Concordia significantly cut down on their turnovers in the game. After entering the contest averaging 23.8 miscues per game, the Cobbers only turned the ball over 15 times in the game. It is a season-low for the team and marks the first time all year they have not turned the ball over at least 20 times.

St. Kate's shot 54.8% (34-of-62) from the floor but could only manage 30.0% (3-of-10) from 3-point range. The Wildcats were led by Rachel Berglund who matched Hageman's total of 23 points. Schneider added 17 in the losing effort.

Concordia will finally come home to open up their home season in 2006-07. After playing their first six games on the road, the Cobbers will host Carleton on Monday, Dec. 11 at 7:45 p.m. The game can be seen and heard live, and will also feature live statistics, on the Cobber athletics website.
