Hamline Dual Meet Results - Now Online!

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- If the Concordia dual meet with Hamline was a horse race it would have been held up at the finish so the judges could have checked the photo at the finish line. If it were a basketball game, one of the Cobbers would have sunk a shot at the buzzer to claim the victory.

Concordia staged a dramatic, last two-race rally to come from behind and nip the Pipers 122-120 in a meet held at Hamline. It is the first dual meet win for the Cobbers in the 2005-06 season.

Concordia produced the exciting win by capturing wins in the last two events of the meet as they erased an eight-point deficit and won by two. Heading into the 12th event of the meet, the 200-yard breaststroke, the Cobbers trailed 107-99 and needed to capture wins in both events to have any chance at pulling out the overall victory. Shannon Brown led the Cobber charge by winning the event in a time of 1:12.97. Catie Eickhoff and Adrienne Moss picked up three big points by placing fourth and fifth.

That set the stage for the final event of the meet. Trailing 113-110 at the start of the 200-yard freestyle relay, Concordia knew that they would have to win the race in order to surpass the Pipers. The Cobber relay team of Jenna Dillon, Shaina Fossum, Cami Hendrickson and Katie Lee pushed the Cobbers over the edge by racing to a 1:48.42 and clipping the Hamline team by less than 1.5 seconds.

Other event winners for Concordia included Lee in the 200-yard freestyle and Fossum in the 1000-yard freestyle.

The Cobber diving crew took home wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Perhaps the biggest upset of the whole meet came when freshman Sara Ryan bettered 2004-05 MIAC Co-Diver of the Year, and teammate, Annie Cullen in the 1-meter competition. Ryan posted a score of 198.20, which was 1.5 points better than Cullen's mark of 196.70. Cullen came back to win the 3-meter event by almost a walloping 50 points.

Concordia will turn around and host St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1:00pm in the Memorial Auditorium Pool.
