MIAC Meet Day 3 Recap MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- The progression is complete. Concordia senior diver Annie Cullen has officially gone from diving novice to the best diver in the conference and one of the top competitors in the nation. Cullen captured the 1-meter diving compeition at the MIAC Championship Meet on Saturday after winning the 3-meter event on Thursday. The double victory helped her repeat as MIAC Diver of the Year. Last season she shared the honor with temmate Emily Hall. Cullen recorded a national provisinally qualifying score 261.00 in the finals of the 1-meter to win the event by over 56 points. She has posted the top scores in the nation in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events this year and will now set her sights on earning All-American status at the NCAA Division III National Meet on Mar. 9-11 at the University of Minnesota. The national meet will be held in the same aquatic center that the conference meet was held which will help Cullen's ability to post a top ten finish. As a team, Concordia was passed by St. Kate's and finished in ninth place. The swimming highlights of the final day at the championship meet came from Shannon Brown and the 400-yard freestyle team of Brown, Allison Balgrean, Shaina Fossum and Katie Lee. Brown finished 15th in the 200-yard breaststroke to score points in both of the breaststroke events. Earlier in the meet, she earned all-conference honors in the 100-yard breaststroke. The freestyle relay team posted a 3:46.55 in the finals which was less than one second off of the school record set last year at the meet. The finals time was good enough for seventh place.
