GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Before the meet, no one was paying attention to the only Division III diver in the competition. After the meet, everyone was asking, "who was that diver from Concordia?" The Division II coming out party for Annie Cullen was time with the last meet before conference. Cullen sent a message to the rest of the MIAC that she will be the person to beat as she won the 1-meter competition and finished second in the 3-meter in an event that was all NCAA Division II scholarship athletes. Both of Cullen's final scores provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Meet. Both scores are season bests for Cullen and both are the top score in the nation so far this season. She will now set her sights on defending her MIAC diver of the Year title and also her championship in the 3-meter diving competition at the MIAC Championship Meet on Feb. 16-18 at the University of Minnesota. Coming off a dual meet win over UM-Morris on Friday, the Cobbers used the UND Invite to take a step up in competition and get used to the environment of a championship-style pool. Shannon Brown was the only Cobber swimmer to post a top five finish at the all Division II meet. Brown swam a season-best 2:39.76 in the 200-yard breaststroke and came away with fifth place. Several other Cobbers recorded season-best times as Concordia prepares for the MIAC Championship Meet in the middle of February.
