Cullen is one of only two athletes from the entire MIAC that will be participating in the national meet. Macalester senior Heather Lendway, the MIAC Swimmer of the Year will be competing in the 500-yard freestyle, 400-yard individual medley and the 1650-yard freestyle. Cullen won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the MIAC Championship Meet and was named the MIAC Diver of the Year for the second straight season. She provisionally qualified for the national meet on five different occasions on the 1-meter board and twice on the 3-meter. After sending in a tape, and having the NCAA Qualifying Board review her qualifications, Cullen received notice that she had been selected as one of the 22 divers that will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Last year Cullen finished 20th at the national meet on both boards. Cullen will be hoping to become the third Concordia Swimming and Diving All-American when she competes at the national meet on Mar. 9-11 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic center on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. Last year Emily Hall claimed All-American honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. She finished fifth in the 3-meter and 14th in the 1-meter. Shana Letness earned All-American as a swimmer in the breaststroke at the 1999 and 2001 national meets.
