Complete List of Women's At-Large Winners

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/25/06)-- Concordia national champion diver Annie Cullen ('06, Moorhead, Minn.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large First Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) it was announced on Thursday. Because of her first team award, Cullen will now be placed on the ballot for Academic All-American honors.

She was one of only two athletes from the MIAC to earn Academic All-District First Team honors, as Carleton golfer Cassie Wells also advanced to the national ballot.
Cullen is also the third athlete from Concordia to earn Academic All-District First team honors during the

2005-06 athletic year (Matt Kleber, football; Keith Eckhoff, men's basketball).

Cullen carried a 3.73 grade point average while majoring in Mathematics and Accounting. She is the first athlete in program history to earn the Academic All-District First Team honors as voted on by CoSIDA.

The at-large category consists of athletes that competed in swimming and diving, golf, tennis, gymnastics, field hockey, crew, lacrosse and skiing.

The honor is given to athletes in the College Division of the Academic All-American award. The College Division includes players from NCAA Division II, III and NAIA from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana schools. Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to be nominated. Student-athletes must have a grade-point average above 3.20 (4.0 scale) and have outstanding athletic credentials. College sports information directors in the district vote for the teams.

Cullen won the national championship in the 1-meter diving competition at this year's NCAA Division III national Meet in March. She became the first Concordia swimming and diving athlete to win a national championship in program history and the first Cobber athlete to win an individual championship in any sport since Renee Erickson won the javelin title at the 1996 NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet.

Cullen became only the third athlete in the history of the Concordia swimming and diving program to earn All-American honors. She joined fellow diver Emily Hall, who finished fifth in the 1-meter competition last year, and swimmer Shana Letness who earned All-American status in the breaststroke in the 1999 and 2001 national meets.

Cullen was named the MIAC Diver of the Year for the second consecutive season in 2006. She won both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at this year's conference meet. In 2005, she was named the MIAC Co-Diver of the Year after winning the 3-meter event and finishing second in the 1-meter.

During the 2006 season Cullen won 20 different diving events at team meets.
