Meet Recap:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/24/09)-- Concordia used their overall team depth to win the St. Kate's Invite in St. Paul on Saturday. The Cobbers did not win a single event at the meet but won the overall team championship by 97 points. CC finished with a total of 630 points.

The win is the first multiple-team invite victory for Concordia since the 2002-03 season when they also won the St. Kate's Invite.

Despite not capturing a single event, the Cobbers recorded several top five finishes and scored points in almost every single event.

Cobber sophomore Katie Coleman was one of the top Concordia athletes at the meet as she posted a trio of top five finishes. She finished third in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 19:38.02. She also finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (58.96) and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.51).

Senior Shaina Fossum also had multiple top five finishes. She was fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:25.75) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.26). Her sister Stacie matched her by finishing fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:46.74) and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:50.75).

The Cobber diving corps scored major points in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Concordia had eight divers at the meet and came away with a combined total of 113 points in the two events. CC had a pair of runner-up finishes in both events. Lauren Trudeau finished with a total of 361.70 to finish second in the 1-meter competition and Amy Glubzinski claimed second-place honors in the 3-meter event with a total of 326.55. Trudeau also finished fifth in the 3-meter and Glubzinski was fifth in the 1-meter.

After the divers, the Cobber relay teams posted large point totals. Concordia had a pair of third-place finishes in the relays and one fourth-place finish. In the three relay events, Concordia scored 94 total points.

Concordia will stay close to home for their next competition. The Cobbers will participate in the MSU Moorhead/Concordia Invite held at MSU Moorhead on Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31.
