Meet Recap:

MORRIS, Minn. (12/12/08)-- For the second straight Friday Concordia posted a dominating performance on their way to a dual-meet victory. The Cobbers won nine of the 10 contested events against UM-Morris and cruised to a 145-83 victory over the Cougars. The win is the second straight for CC who heads to the holiday break with a 2-2 record in dual meets.

It was also the second straight meet in which sophomore Katie Coleman won two events. Coleman who won the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle last week against Northern State won the 1650-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke against Morris. She recorded a time of 19:48.66 in the 1650 and won the event by almost a full minute. In the 200-yard backstroke she finished in a time of 2:26.27 and won by a full two seconds.

Concordia started the meet by taking the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Aleina Weisz, Jessica Obrecht, Kendal Christensen and Kirsten Anderson swam a 2:04.04 and bettered the second-place team by two seconds.

From there the Cobbers won the next five individual events. Coleman claimed the 1650-yard freestyle and then Shaina Fossum, Anderson, Sarah Ament and Lauren Trudeau all followed suit with wins. Fossum continued her successful senior season by winning the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:11.33. Anderson swam a 26.64 in the 50-yard freestyle and then Ament went 2:30.47 in the 200-yard invididual medley to give CC a commanding lead. Trudeau then finished off the Concordia win streak by winning the 1-meter diving event with a score of 2:08.70.

UM-Morris would then capture their only win of the meet in the 200-yard butterfly and the Cobbers would cap off the competitive part of the meet with three more wins. Weisz had an individual win in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.74. Coleman then had her win in the 200-yard backstroke and that was followed by a victory from Kristina Westmark in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:48.89.

Concordia will have a two-week break for the Christmas break. The Cobbers head back into the pool in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the end of the year. CC will swim against Iowa State in a dual meet in San Juan on Jan. 1.
