ST. PAUL, Minn. (11/22/08)-- For the second straight season Concordia used the depth of their team to finish second at the Macalester Invite. The Cobbers posted a team total of 410 points on Saturday and finished only 32 points behind meet champion St. Thomas.

Concordia posted only one individual event win in the meet but recorded numerous top five finishes. Junior diver Lauren Trudeau won the 1-meter diving competition with a final score of 198.10 points. Teammate Amy Glubzinski was third in the event with a final point total of 169.25. The two finished second and third in the 3-meter event. Trudeau was second with 194.75 points and Glubzinski was third with 177.20 points.

Senior Shaina Fossum claimed two top five finishes in swimming events. She was third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:08.22 and third in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:36.81. Katie Coleman also had a pair of third-place results. She went 5:47.90 in the 500-yard freestyle and 2:05.29 in the 200-yard freestyle.

The top Cobber relay at the invite was the 400-yard freestyle relay. Brooke Carlson, Kirsten Anderson, Kristina Westmark and Aleina Weisz swam a 3:56.77 and finished in third place.

Concordia will have a two-week break before hosting their home opener against Northern State on Friday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.
