(11/05/09)-- Concordia enters the 2009-10 season with another deep roster and a chance to post top-flight individual performances. The Cobbers will once again be led by their diving crew. Last year the team’s diving group scored 89.50 total points at the MIAC Championship Meet. That helped the Cobbers finish eighth at the MIAC Meet. The Cobbers return a pair of All-Conference divers from last season. Amy Glubzinski and Lauren Trudeau are back to try and improve on their top three finishes at the MIAC Meet. Glubzinski finished second in the 3-meter competition and Trudeau matched that effort by finishing second in the 1-meter event. Both divers also placed fifth in the other event. A pair of sophomores will be strengthened by their first year of college diving. Molly Hansvik placed seventh in the 1-meter event at the conference meet and Allison Hall was 14th in the 3-meter. Junior Katie Coleman is the team’s top returning swimmer. She posted the highest finish of any CC swimmer at last year’s MIAC Meet. Coleman placed seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 18:28.33. That cut over a minute off of her seed time and was less than :23 seconds away from the school record set in 2001. Coleman also finished 10th in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 5:19.87. That time was less than :03 seconds off the school record. She also finished the meet by being named the team's representative to the MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Julie Lucier’s 2009-10 crew has 27 athletes on the roster with over half being upperclassmen. The experience of the juniors and seniors will help the Cobbers’ underclassmen survive the long five-month swimming and diving season. Concordia will open November by hosting a pair of meets. The Cobbers will host a double dual against Macalester and St. Thomas on Nov. 7 and then square off against cross-town rival MSU Moorhead on Nov. 14. Concordia will also have a home meet against Augsburg and UM-Morris on Dec. 5. CC will have four meets in the 2010 calendar year before preparing for the MIAC Championship Meet on Feb. 18-20.
