Meet Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/26/08)-- Concordia saved their closest dual meet of the 2007-08 season for the last. The Cobbers battled with Macalester through 14 events before finally falling 157-138. The loss is the third of the year for CC who falls to 5-3 in dual meets this season. The Scots snap a two-meet losing streak and finish their season at 4-5 in dual meets.

Concordia had 17 career-best marks on the day, but for the second straight week the big story was turned in by freshman Aleina Weisz who broke another school record. Fresh off bettering her own mark in the 100-yard backstroke last week, Weisz set a new record in the 200-yard backstroke. Her time of 2:20.57 broke the old mark of 2:21.12 set by Jenny Berg back in 2001. Weisz' time also won the event by over a full second.

Only one other Concordia athlete claimed an individual event victory. Shaina Fossum posted a time of 2:31.00 in the 200-yard butterfly to come away with the win. That mark was a career-best for Fossum

The Cobbers did record nine second-place finishes on the day.

Besides Weisz' career-best time in the 200-yard backstroke, other personal-best marks were turned in by Latoya Gruys in the 100-yard breaststroke, Katie Coleman in the 200 IM and 50-yard freestyle in the medley relay, Amanda Rolik in the 1650-yard freestyle, Jessi Rognlien in the 200-yard freestyle, Weisz in the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle in the freestyle relay, Devaney Buffalo in the 100-yard backstroke, Janine Davis in the 100-yard backstroke, Mackenzie Koeck in the 200-yard butterfly, Katherine Murnion in the 200-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle in the medley relay, Sarah Ament in the 200-yard backstroke, Alison Harms in the 200-yard breaststroke, Kim Cassidy in the 500-yard freestyle and Amy Glubzinski and Kristy Williams in the 1-meter diving event.

CC also achieved 10 season-best marks.

Concordia will now spend the next three weeks preparing for the MIAC Championship Meet on Feb. 14-16.
