Meet Recap:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (11/17/07)-- For the second straight day, Concordia used the depth of their team to succeed against MIAC opponents. The Cobbers received 14 career-best times and finished second in the Macalester Invite. CC finished with a final team score of 555, which was 232.5 points better than Macalester who finished in third place.

The second-place finish represents a huge improvement from last year when Concordia finished fourth at the same meet. In 2006, the Cobbers scored only 265 points.

Despite finishing in second as a team, Concordia did not have a swimmer or diver place in the top two of any individual event. Sophomores Chelsea Volna and Mackenzie Koeck came away with the top finishes for the Cobbers. Volna placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:40.13. Koeck claimed third place in the 200-yard butterfly with a mark of 2:45.68.

Volna and three other CC athletes recorded fourth-place finishes. Volna finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was joined by Amanda Rolik in the 200-yard butterfly, Aleina Weisz in the 1000-yard freestyle and diver Amy Glubzinski in the 3-meter diving competition.

Rolik also headed the list of the 14 career-best times recorded for Concordia. She swam a 2:20.85 in the 200-yard freestyle. A short list of the 14 athletes who swam PR's included Rachel Sudermann in the 500-yard freestyle (6:46.78), Katie Coleman (1:00.67) and Katherine Allen (1:05.60) in the 100-yard freestyle and Katherine Murnion in the 1000-yard freestyle (13:05.11).

Concordia will have an extended break for the Thanksgiving holiday and will return to action on Nov. 30 when they begin competition in the Dragon-Cobber Invite at MSU Moorhead.
