(1/26/07)-- Concordia capped off their 2006-07 regular season by beating St. Kate's 114-74 in the annual Senior Recognition Meet in Moorhead on Friday. The Cobbers won eight of the 11 contested events in the meet and sent off the three seniors - Katie Lee, Adrienne Moss and Krista Wynia in spectacular fashion. The win helped the Cobbers move ahead of the .500 mark in dual meets for the year. Concordia finished the year with a 4-3 overall record in their seven dual meets. The four dual meet wins is the most for CC since the 2002-03 season when they went 5-3. Concordia started the meet off by claiming a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Janine Davis, Chelsea Volna, Dani Ree and Jessica Tollberg swam a 2:02.98 to earn the win by almost a full five seconds. After the relay victory, CC sophomore Shaina Fossum won the 1,000-yard freestyle. St. Kate's then recorded one of their three event victories before Lee won the first of her two events on the evening. Lee posted a 27.01 in the 50-yard freestyle to win by 1.88 seconds. She then captured the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:05.60. Her time was a career-best. Wrapped around the two wins by Lee was a pair of victories in the 1-meter diving events for Cobber freshman Lauren Trudeau. Volna and Heather Croissant won the final two events for Concordia. Volna put up a time of 2:27.86 in the 200-yard backstroke and Croissant's time of 6:04.22 in the 500-yard freestyle won the event by over eight seconds. Volna's final time was a career-best. Besides Lee, the other two Cobber seniors saved their best of the season for their final home meet. Moss had a season-best time in the 200-yard breatstroke (2:57.11) and Wynia recorded a season-best in the 50-yard freestyle (31.8) portion of the 200-yard medley relay. Other career or season-best times for the Cobbers included a pair of career-best times for Amanda Rolik in the 50-yard freestyle (29.3) in the 200-yard freestyle relay and 1,000-yard freestyle (12:15.27). Sarah Jesperson recorded a career-best in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.05). Season-best times of note were posted by Megan Reinke in the 50-yard backstroke (33.31) leg in the 200-yard medley relay and 100-yard freestyle (1:05.97) and Annie Jesperson in the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.19). All told, Concordia achieved 18 season-best times. The Cobbers will have a three-week break before competing in the MIAC Championship Meet on Feb. 15-17 at the University of Minnesota.
