Meet Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/12/07)-- Concordia opened the 2007 portion of their schedule by falling to St. Ben's 168-71 in a dual meet on Friday in Moorhead. The Cobbers are now 3-2 in dual meets in 2006-07.

The highlight of the meet for the Cobbers came in the 1-meter diving competition where freshman diver Lauren Trudeau set a new freshman diving record. Trudeau scored a total of 363.50 points in the 11-dive competition. That mark broke the old record of 338.65 points set by Sara Ryan last year.

Concordia head coach Julie Lucier used the dual meet to get the Cobbers back in the competition mode after their trip to Florida. All of Concordia's swimming athletes competed in at least one event that they normally don't compete in during championship events.

Nine different Cobber athletes posted career-best marks. Besides Trudeau, Jessica Tollberg in the 1650-yard freestyle (20:08.95), Krista Wynia in the 200-yard freestyle (2:33.53), Annie Jesperson in the 200-yard IM (2:36.26), Latoya Gruys in the 100-yard butterfly (1:16.54), Kelly Kufahl in the 100-yard backstroke (1:19.86), Katherine Allen in the 500-yard freestyle (6:38.33), Sarah Jesperson in the 100-yard freestyle split in the 400-yard freestyle relay (1:04.0) and Krista Wynia in the 100-yard freestyle split in the 400-yard freestyle relay (1:09.4).

Trudeau's win was the only event win for the Cobber in the meet. The only second-place finish by a CC athlete was posted by senior Katie Lee who finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:09.75. Third-place finishes were recorded by Jessica Tollberg in the 1650-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle and Shaina Fossum in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke.

Concordia will turn around and face MSU Moorhead in a dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 5 p.m. at the MSU Moorhead pool.
