Meet Rewind: Meet Results: Final Cobber/Dragon Open Results Meet Recap: MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/02/06)-- Concordia completed the annual Cobber/Dragon Open at MSU Moorhead by finishing third with a total team score of 869 points. The Dargons won the event with a total of 1,824. The Cobbers continued their trend of steady improvement throughout the season as they posted 14 career-best times and recorded 27 season-best marks. Freshman diver Lauren Trudeau also continued to improve in her first full year of collegiate diving competition. She finished second in both of the diving events. In the 1-meter competition, she scored 282.25 points and in the 3-meter event she posted a final total of 321.15 which was only 14 points behind the event winner. Besides Trudeau, five other Cobbers posted top four results in individual events. Katie Lee finished fourth in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard freestyle. Sophomore Shaina Fossum recorded a fourth-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle. Freshman Erin Maetzold was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke and Chelsea Volna and Karin Koenig finished third and fourth respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke. Lee was the top individual scorer for Concordia at the meet as she recorded 59 points for the team. The list of career-best times included Jessica Tollberg in 50-yard freestyle in the 200-yard medley relay (27.5) and also in the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.96), Janine Davis in the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.54), Megan Reinke in the 200-yard backstroke (2:37.81), Katherine Allen in the 200-yard breastroke (2:57.03) and 200-yard freestyle (2:25.19), Lee in the 200-yard butterfly (2:33.22), Dani Ree in the 200-yard butterfly (2:37.99), Fossum in the 50-yard freestyle in 200-yard freestyle relay (27.0), Volna in the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.02) and 100-yard freestyle in 400-yard freestyle relay (59.5), Amanda Rolik in the 500-yard freestyle (6:15.17) and 200-yard freestyle in the 800-yard freestyle relay (2:26.5) and finally Latoya Gruys in the 200-yard individual medley (2:35.10). Concordia will have one more meet before the Christmas holiday break. The Cobbers will travel to Morris, Minn. to compete against UM-Morris in a dual meet on Friday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. |
