Gameday Game Recap: (Recap courtesy of UW-Stout SID)

MENOMONIE, Wis. (1/09/09)-- Coming into the Dunn County Ice Arena, Concordia-Moorhead had only one win and were facing fifth ranked UW-Stout.

The Cobbers (2-11-2) turned the tables on the Blue Devils (10-5-0) by scoring two power play goals and two empty net goals to down Stout, 4-1, Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Cobbers' Jason Makinen scored on a power play four minutes into the second period. Concordia's Cory Johnson doubled the score on a 5-on-3 opportunity at the eight minute mark.

Stout did get on the board with eight minutes off the clock in the third period when Matt Morin (Fr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) scored his fourth goal of the year, with an assist by Ben Bengtson (So, Warroad, Minn).

But it was not to be for the Blue Devils as Jared Collen scored as goalie Matt Koenig (Sr, Lakeland, Minn) was exiting the ice. Casey Olson scored the clincher as he was clearing the puck from the opposite blue line.

Koenig finished with 37 saves, while the Cobbers' Mike Persson had 27 saves. Stout was whistled for eight penalties, while Concordia was benched for two penalties.

Concordia will return to MIAC play when they play at Bethel on Jan. 16-17.
