Game Stats: Concordia vs. St. Olaf Box Score - Now Online!

Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/06/08)-- Pivotal Play: In the final 10 seconds of regulation Concordia had a two man break on St. Olaf goalie Ben Leis. Cobber senior captain Cory Johnson skated in with the puck and looked as if he would take a shot as time ran down. Lies went to stop Johnson but then Johnson slid the puck to teammate Shawn Goos. Unfortunately Goos could not get control of the puck to slide the puck into the open net.

Unheralded Performance: Concordia goalie Elliot Okland made 26 saves in the game and kept the Cobbers close throughout all three periods. The one goal allowed by Okland represents the fewest goals of the season allowed by a Cobber goalie this season. Okland has played the last three consecutive games for CC and has a 2.00 goals against average during that stretch.

Key Stats: Goos scored the lone goal of the game for the Cobbers. He tied the game on the power play at the 13:09 mark of the third period after CC had been stopped cold for the first two-plus periods. Casey Olson and Mark Johnson were awarded the assists on the play. For Johnson it was his second assist of the weekend. St. Olaf's only score of the game came at 15:17 of the second period. Roger Truesdale scored his third goal of the year on assists from Bryan Giordano and Nick Stalock.

St. Olaf outshot the Cobbers 27-23 for the game. Concordia only mustered nine shots on goal in the first two periods but then exploded for 13 in the third frame. St. Olaf had 12 in the first, 10 in the second and only three shots in the third.

Leis made 22 saves for the Oles in the game.

Concordia went 1-for-4 on the power play while St. Olaf was 0-for-5 in their man advantage situations.

Noteworthy: Concordia allowed another second-period goal. The Cobbers have outscored their opponents in the first and third periods but have been outscored 23-12 in the middle period.

The tie gives Concordia their second conference point of the season. That is more than they had in all of last season. Ironically, their only point in 2007-08 came against the Oles when they skated to a 3-3 overtime tie on Jan. 18.

Spin Ahead: The Cobbers will play St. John's in a non-conference series next weekend. The Cobbers will play at SJU on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. and then again on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.
