Concordia scored three goals in the third period against Lake Forest on Friday, but their third-period rally fell short as they lost 5-4 to the Foresters. Four different Cobbers players scored in the game as CC fell to 1-2.

Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/09/07)-- Concordia's alarm clock was set 44 minutes to late on Friday as the Cobbers fell behind 4-1 in the third period against Lake Forest, staged a late rally but fell one goal short and lost 5-4 to the Foresters. The loss is the second straight for CC who won the season opener at UW-Eau Claire but has now lost dropped the last two and falls to 1-2-0 on the year. Lake Forest wins their first game of the season. After losing to a pair of MIAC schools last weekend, the Foresters get in the win column and improve to 1-4-0.

The first period was an offensive showcase as the two teams combined for 38 shots. Unfortunately for Concordia, Lake Forest was able to score two goals on their 20 shots while was CC was held scoreless in their 18 attempts. The Foresters used a pair of bookend goals to take a 2-0 lead into the second period. Lake Forest scored in the first minute of play in the period and added their second in the final minute of play.

The Cobbers finally got on the board at the 14:10 mark of the second period. Shawn Goos scored his second goal of the season with Brent Sands and Dustin Holland picking up the assists.

After CC cut the lead to one at 2-1, Lake Forest scored three straight goals in the second and third periods to push the margin to 4-1. They started their game-decisive trio of goals at the 15:00 mark in the second frame. The goal came just 50 seconds after Concordia scored their first goal of the game. The Foresters scored their fourth goal of the game 1:40 later and took a 4-1 lead into the final frame.

Lake Forest added the game-winning goal 1:45 into the final period. The Cobber alarm clock then went off two minutes later. CC senior Matt Cosmos scored the first of the three straight goals. That was followed by scores from Knut Bitustoeyl and Ryan Clukey. For all three players it was their first goal of the season.

The final goal for Concordia came at 15:12 and unfortunately CC wasn't able to find the game-tying goal in the final 4:48 of the game. The best chance for a goal came at 17:13 when Concordia went on the power play. The Cobbers got only two shots off on the man-advantage situation and was never able to sustain an offensive attack for the rest of the game.

All nine goals in the game were even strength. Concordia went 0-for-7 on the power play and is now 3-for-24 on the power play for the season. Lake Forest went 0-for-4 in their man-advantage situations.

Concordia outshot the Foresters 46-38 for the game, including 15-7 in the final period. CC goalie Jeremy Boniface made 33 saves and picked up his first loss of the year. Lake Forest goalie Scott Campbell stopped 42 shots to earn his first win of the year.

Concordia will turn around and host No.8-ranked St. Norbert on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Moorhead Sports Center.
