(1/05/07)-- Concordia gave up a goal in the first minute of play and the game went downhill from their for the Cobbers as they were ambushed by UW-Eau Claire 9-0 in Eau Claire, Wis. on Friday night. The game was the first for Concordia after a 20-day break for the Christmas holiday and snaps the Cobbers' three-game winning streak. CC is now 6-5 on the year. The Blugolds return to action after their holiday layoff by winning for the first time in five games. Eau Claire evens their overall mark at 6-6-2. The game started ominously for Concordia as the Blugolds scored just 57 seconds into the contest on Cobber goalie Mike Persson. Persson was then replaced by starting goalie Jeremy Boniface. Boniface fared little better as he allowed three more goals in the period as Eau Claire took a 4-0 lead into the second frame. The Blugolds tacked on a pair of goals in the second period and then added three more in the third to bring the final total to 9-0. The shutout is the first of the year for Eau Claire.
The Cobbers will return to action on Saturday night when they play at UW-Stevens at 7:30 p.m. |
