2007 MIAC All-Conference Team

ST. PAUL, Minn. (3/06/07)-- Concordia men's hockey players Mark Buchholz (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Alec Holen (So., Thief River Falls, Minn.) earned MIAC postseason honors it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. Buchholz was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team and Holen received honorable mention honors.

Buchholz was also named the Cobbers' representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.

Buchholz becomes the first Concordia men's player to earn MIAC All-Conference honors in the past four seasons. It is the first time in his career that he has earned a postseason honor. Holen also earns his initial postseason award.

Buchholz was the team captain and defensive leader for the 2006-07 season. He finished the season tied for fourth in the conference in scoring by a defenseman in conference. During league play he has two goals and 10 assists for 12 points. In all games he finished fifth on the team in scoring with four goals and 13 assists for 17 points. His goal and point totals were the best of his four-year career at Concordia. Buchholz ended his career with seven goals and 39 assists for 46 points.

Holen was the team's leading scorer in 2006-07. He finished the season with 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points. In conference play he totaled seven goals and six assists for 13 points. He wound up tied for seventh in the conference in goals scored in MIAC games.

In overall games Holen was tied for seventh in scoring and goals scored in the conference. For his two-year career, Holen now has 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points.
