Cobber junior Mark Buchholz has been named the 2006-07 team captain.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (04/29/06)-- Concordia head coach Steve Baumgartner has announced that junior defenseman Mark Buchholz has been named the team captain for the 2006-07 season. Buchholz was the top blueliner on the club in 2005-06. He finished the season with a team-leading 14 assists. he was also tied for second on the team in overall points with 14.

Joining Buchholz in leadership roles next season will be Dan Perry and Tyler Neu. Both players were named as assistant captains.

Baumgartner also announced the final team awards for the 2005-06 season. Perry was named the team MVP for 2005-06 after leading the team in scoring with 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points.

Buchholz was named the top defensemen for the season. Twins Carl and Chris Babich were awarded the Co-Rookie of the Year award. Two-sport athlete Cory Johnson was named as the team's Hardest Worker and Tony Webber was honored as the Most Improved.

The Cobbers finished the 2005-06 with 5-18-2 overall record and a 0-15-1 record in conference play. Concordia was winless in its last 18 games and will be looking to return to the MIAC playoffs for the first time since the 2002-03 season.
