Gameday Action Pictures (click on picture to see larger image) Gameday Recap MOORHEAD, Minn.-- Concordia lost the game to MSU-Moorhead on Sunday night, but Keith Eckhoff won the hearts of the Cobber fans as he eclipsed the 1,000-point barrier with a free throw in the second half. Concordia let the Dragons slip away at the end of the first half and was never able to recover, losing 78-56 to the Division II Dragons. In a game where MSU-Moorhead showcased their athletic ability, it was Eckhoff who was thrust into the spotlight because of his heart, determination and character. Needing to score 16 points to break the 1,000-point mark heading into the game, Eckhoff provided all the dramatics in the game as he waited until 3:32 left in the final period to push his career point total into four figures to become only the 10th player in Cobber men's basketball history to achieve the milestone. Eckhoff finished with 20 points and now has 1,004 for his three-plus year career. He is only one point away from tying Daimen Crump for ninth place on the all-time scoring list and 14 points shy of moving past current Cobber women's basketball assistant coach Mark Askerooth and into eighth place. Showing the effects of having played a rugged conference game the day before, Concordia was able to battle MSU-Moorhead for most of the first half but was unable to respond to the Dragon's constant offensive pressure down the stretch of the first 20 minutes and into the second half. The Cobbers grabbed an early six-point lead at 8-2 but then watched as the Dragons, having last played on Dec. 6, went on a 14-5 run to grab a 16-13 lead - a lead they would never relinquish for the rest of the game. The turning point in the contest came at the end of the first half when Concordia was trying everything they could to stay with the Dragons. Trailing by only three points after Eckhoff hit on one of his six 3-point shots on the night, the Cobbers watched as MSU-Moorhead went on a 13-0 run to finish the period. The only drama in the second half was whether or not Eckhoff would achieve the 1,000 point milestone, After missing a 3-point shot from the corner that would have given him the mark, he was fouled on a shot and made the first attempt to push his career total to 1,000. Besides the 20 points, Eckhoff also finished with a team-high six rebounds. He shot 33.3% from the field and 50.0% from 3-point range. Fellow senior Jason Miller chipped in 16 points and five rebounds as he continues to be a steadying force in the middle of the Cobber lineup. Sophomore Luke Linz had another solid game, pouring in 12 points. He has now scored in double figures in the last five games and in six of the team's seven games this year. MSU-Moorhead was led by Cedrick Hensley who had a game-high 26 points including a mammoth alley-oop slam at the end of the first half. He was 10-of-14 from the floor for the game. Concordia will finish off their 2005 portion of the schedule when they host UM-Morris on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30pm. The Cobbers will then return to action on Jan. 2 when they play at Macalester at 7:30pm.
