The loss is the eighth straight for Concordia and slides their conference mark to 4-11 on the year. The Cobbers are now 5-14 overall. Macalester remains in the hunt for a playoff spot as they win for the third straight game and improve to 6-9 in the MIAC and 7-13 overall. For the second straight game Ryan Johnson led Concordia in scoring. He netted 12 points and was once again the only Cobber player in double figures. Jason Miller had nine points and six rebounds, while Brock Citterman finished with a team-high eight rebounds. Tommy Conboy once again led the Scots in scoring. In the first meeting between the two teams he put up 23 points and on Wednesday he added another 22. The sophomore is averaging 18.5 points per game in his four games against the Cobbers. he has led the Scots in scoring in three of those four outings. Lars Johnson and Brendan Bosman were the other two Macalester players with at least 10 points. Johnson went for 12 and Bosman added 11. Jesse Hollander had a game-high nine rebounds in the winning cause. The Scots broke open the game in the second period, taking a four-point halftime lead at 30-26 and extending it to 11 midway through the final half. The Cobbers had clawed their way into the lead momentarily at the beginning of the second half, but a 22-9 run over a span of 7:13 put a damper on a gutsy performance by Concordia. During that deciding stretch, Macalester went 8-of-10 from the floor, 2-of-2 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. With a renewed confidence, the Scots kept stroking the ball from the outside and were able to hold off the Cobbers whenever they threatened to make a run. For the game, Concordia shot 42.6% (23-of-54) from the floor and 22.7% (5-of-22) from 3-point range. The Scots clicked along at a 47.3% (26-of-55) rate from the floor and a 21.1% (4-of-19) clip from behind the arc. Macalester shot a mere 9.1% (1-of-11) in the first half but rebounded to shoot 37.5% (3-of-8) in the second half. Macalester also held a decided edge in rebounding. The Scots outrebounded the undersized Cobbers 34-24. They also held a 28-18 advantage in points in the paint.
