Gameday Recap

MOORHEAD, Minn.-- Concordia was never able to find an offensive rhythm, turned the ball over 19 times, shot 5.9% (1-of-17) from 3-point range and lost 68-48 to St. John's on Saturday.

The 48 points for Concordia is the least amount of points scored this season and fewest since Jan. 9, 2002 when the Cobbers lost 54-45 to Macalester.

Concordia is now 4-7 in the MIAC and 5-10 overall, while St. John's wins for the fourth time in the past five games and moves to 7-4 in league play and 9-7 overall.

The good news for the Cobbers is that they did not lose another player to injury during the game. After watching two of their starting players fall in back-to-back games, Concordia played injury-free basketball for the entire 40 minutes. The Cobbers were also buoyed by the return of Jason Miller, who was poked in the eye against Hamline and was forced to wear racquetball goggles for the entire game.

Concordia played 11 different players in the game as they tried to find the right offensive combination. Ryan Templeton was the only Concordia player to score in double figures. Templeton had 10 points and four rebounds. Brock Citterman, usually a marksman from long-range, went 0-of-5 from behind the arc and settled for nine points. He also hauled ina team-high five rebounds. Miller also grabbed five rebounds and had eight points.

St. John's had four players score in double-digits. The Johnnies, like the Cobbers, struggled on the offensive end of the court. They also finished with 19 turnovers and allowed Concordia to come away with 14 steals.

Matt Ohme had a game-high 14 points but also had a game-high five turnovers. Paul Henrichs amassed a double-double. He had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The difference in the game between the two teams' 38 turnovers was the fact that St. John's turned the Cobbers' 19 miscues into 22 points while Concordia could only manufacture nine points off of the 19 St. John's turnovers.

Concordia will host Gustavus on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 8:00pm. The game can be heard live via the internet at:
