GAME TIME: 7:30 PM
LAST YEAR: Last year the two teams hooked up for a wild offensive showcase with Concordia edging past UM-Morris 115-108 in overtime.
The
scoring spree included 97 points in the second half and a walloping 35 in the five-minute overtime period. The 223 combined points broke a school record for the Cobbers for most combined points in a single game. The Cobbers' team total of 115 points was the second-highest score by a Cobber men's team in the history of the program. The game was also chopped up by the officials as the two teams combined for 62 fouls, 81 free throws and 43 turnovers. In addition, four players, two from each team, fouled out of the contest. Concordia went 35-for-41 (77.8%) from the free throw line and broke a school record for most made free throws in a single game.
Concordia was led by Keith Eckhoff, who put up a career-high 38 points. Davis Holler answered Eckhoff’s 38 with 30 points of his own for the Cougars.
SERIES: Cobbers lead 5-0
GAMEDAY TIP-OFF
(What you need to know about tonight's Concordia-UM-Morris match-up)
Merry Christmas To All
Tonight’s game is the final Cobber sporting event before the Christmas holiday. The Concordia Athletics Department staff would like to wish all the Cobber fans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The start of the 2006 calendar year should be just as exciting as the finish of 2005 as the Cobber men’s team battles for its first MIAC title since 1982-83.
A Grand Player
Keith Eckhoff became the 10th player in Cobber men’s basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point barrier when he sank a free throw with 3:23 remaining in Concordia’s game with MSU-Moorhead on Sunday night. Eckhoff finished the game with 20 points and currently has 1,004 for his career. He has a chance to jump into eighth place on the all-time list tonight and should finish his career in the top three of all scorers in men’s basketball history. The Gameday staff can’t think of a more deserving athlete to receive all the accolades and attention than the hard-working Eckhoff.
