MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/23/09)-- Concordia standout sophomore John Fraase (Bismarck, N,D./Century HS) was named the MIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced by the MIAC office on Monday. It is the first time in his career that Fraase has won the conference weekly honor.

Fraase had a record-setting week in helping Concordia go 2-0 in the final week of the season and giving the Cobbers a three-game winning streak to end the year.

On Wednesday against St. Mary's, Fraase had 31 points and 24 rebounds and is believed to be the first person in MIAC history to score at least 30 points and grab 20 rebounds in a conference game. His monster night helped Fraase finish the year by averaging 15.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. The 11.4 rebound average sets a school record for highest rebounding average in a single season. He also becomes the first player in school history to average at least 10 points and 10 rebounds per game for an entire season.

In Wednesday's record-setting game against the Cardinals, Fraase was 15-for-20 from the free throw line and 8-for-17 from the field.

On Saturday, Fraase had 15 points and 13 rebounds in leading CC to an overtime win over St. Olaf. It was his 15th double-double of the season which sets a school record for most double-doubles in a season. For the year, Fraase led the MIAC in rebounding as he was the only player to average more than 10 rebounds per game. He was also fifth in the league in scoring.
