MANKATO, Minn. (12/29/06)-- Concordia put the clamps on the sixth-ranked MSU Mankato offense in the first half but wasn't able to hold the explosive Maverick attack in the second period and fell 82-54 in Mankato on Friday.

The Cobbers held NCAA Division II nationally-ranked MSU Mankato to a mere 29.4% (10-of-34) shooting from the floor in the first half but then allowed the Mavericks to burst out for 47 points, and a 50.0% (17-of-34) shooting percentage from the field, in the second 20 minutes.

Concordia, which held the lead for the first 14:10 of the game, was done in a by a 26-9 Maverick run in the final 9:52 of the first half. That run by Mankato turned a seven-point Cobber lead to a 12-point Maverick lead at the break.

Erik Johnson was the leading scorer for Concordia for the second straight game. The 6-7 junior had 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Fellow junior Luke Linz had eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Ryan Johnson was the only other CC player to score in double figures. Ryan Johnson had 10 points to score in double-digits for the third time this season.

Mankato was led by guard Jake Morrow who poured in 28 points and went 11-for-17 from the floor. He led a quartet of players that finally caught fire and scored more than nine points in the game. Paris Kyles had 13 points, preseason DII Player of the year Luke Anderson was held to 11 points and Atila Santos finished with 10 points.

The game is the final non-conference contest for the Cobbers in the 2006-07 season. CC is now 0-8 on the year as they head back into conference play. Mankato wins for the 11th straight time and moves to 13-1 on the season.
