Complete MIAC All-Conference Honors


ST. PAUL, Minn. (3/1/07)-- A pair of Concordia men's basketball players received MIAC postseason honors it was announced on Thursday by the league office. Cobber junior Luke Linz (Watkins, Minn./Eden Valley-Watkins HS) was named the MIAC All-Conference First Team and James Baldwin (Hope, N.D./May-Port CG HS) was placed on the All-First Year Team.

Linz was also named the Cobbers' representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.

For Linz it is the second time in his career that he has earned a conference postseason award. In 2005 he was named to the MIAC All-First Year Team.

Linz led Concordia in scoring in 2006-07 with a 19.8 points per game average. In conference games he averaged 19.9 points per game and was tied for second in the MIAC. He was also fourth in field goal percentage (58.8%) and blocks per game (1.05 bpg), seventh in defensive rebounds (4.90 rpg), ninth in minutes played per game (32.7) and 10th in overall rebounding (6.8 rpg).

Linz led Concordia in 21 of the team's 25 games this season including 13 of the last 14 games. He scored at least 20 points in 12 games and had a season-high 28 points on three different occasions. Linz also had grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds in conference play three times during the year. He collected four double-doubles against MIAC opponents and finished the year by posting a double-double in two of his last three games.

Baldwin steadily improved throughout the course of the season. He ended the year by recording a career-high 18 points in the team's last-game win over St. Mary's. In the final five games he averaged 9.8 points and 4.6 rebounds. Overall for the season he averaged 6.4 points and 4.6 rebounds. He hauled in a season-high 11 rebounds against Carleton on Jan. 22.
