MOORHEAD, Minn.-- Four Cobber athletes and one administrator were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame during the Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The honorees are Raleigh Lillemoe '65, football and wrestling; Mark Jordahl '82, hockey and tennis; Dan Olson '82, football and baseball; Pam (Olsgaard) Nielsen '86, track and field; and Dr. Armin Pipho, director of athletics and chair of the Physical Education and Health Department from 1976 to 2003.

Lillemoe played center and was the co-captain of the 1964 national co-championship football team. He also wrestled, winning the MIAC title at 165-pounds during his senior year. He was named to two MIAC All Conference wrestling teams. Beyond his athletic achievements, teammates recall his exceptional leadership ability and his personal example of hard work and emphasis on team play. Following graduation he operated two residential treatment facilities for the adult mentally ill in Alexandria, Minn., for many years. He also operated agricultural businesses and remains active as a real estate developer and entrepreneur.

In his senior seasons, Jordahl became the first recipient of the Arthur Ashe Award, presented to the best overall representative of MIAC tennis, that emphasizes scholastic achievement, sportsmanship and service to others. He was also earned Academic All American recognition. He played wing on Cobber hockey teams that reached the finals of the NAIA national tournament in 1979 and that qualified for the NCAA Division III national tournament in 1981. He now is chief investment officer of U.S. Bancorp Asset Management in Minneapolis and coaches youth hockey in the Edina Hockey Association.

Olson was the starting safety on the 1981 NAIA national championship football team, and was an MIAC All Conference performer in football and baseball. His sense of competitive sportsmanship and team play set an example for Cobber athletes. Olson owns a State Farm insurance agency, and chairs the Industrial Development Committee in Monticello, Minn.

Nielsen was chosen the MIAC most valuable women's track athlete in 1986 after setting the conference record in the 400-meters. She was a four-time participant in the NCAA Division III national championship meet and twice earned All-America honors in the 400 meters and once in the 1600-meter relay. She was undefeated in the 400-meters during the regular track season during her four years, and won the MIAC championship in 1984 and 1986. She is active in women's and youth ministry and is a Sunday School teacher in Forest Lake, Minn.

For 27 years Pipho led the athletic department, overseeing the creation of many women's intercollegiate sports programs and the construction of the Olson Forum. Pipho's legacy is one of solid management, highly competitive teams with stable coaching staffs, and a level of student participation that far exceeds national averages. He also has been actively involved in many community, civic and church organizations.
