Concordia junior Leah Kay was named the USTFCCCA Region Athlete of the Year.

 
Kay Earns Region Honor!

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/16/09)-- Concordia junior Leah Kay (Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Region Athlete of the Year it was announced over the weekend at the NCAA National Indoor Meet.

Kay entered the national meet ranked fifth in the nation in the pentathlon with a score of 3,314 points. She was also ranked in the top 15 of the nation in the high jump heading into the NCAA DIII Meet.

Kay finished in a tie for eighth in the pentathlon at the NCAA Division III National Indoor Meet at Rose-Hulman Institute in Terra Haute, Ind. on Friday. The finish earned her the first indoor All-American award and third in her career. Last year she earned All-American honors in both the heptathlon and high jump at the national outdoor meet.
