LISLE, Ill. (5/27/06)-- Angie Pfeiffer and Natalie Hanson finished their Concordia track and field careers in fitting fashion as they both earned All-American honors at the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Track and Field at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. on Saturday.

Pfeiffer finished third in the finals of the 400 meters to earn her sixth All-American award. She raced to a time of 55.78 which was slightly behind her qualifying time of 55.50 which broke her own school record. She started out slowly in the race, getting out to her slowest 200 meters of the season. In true Pfeiffer fashion, she turned it on when it was needed most and cruised past most of the field in the finals 200 meters to the third-place finish.

Hanson became the third consecutive Cobber track and field athlete to earn multiple All-American awards in a single national meet. Last year Nicole Plante earned All-American honors in the javelin and heptathlon, and in 2004, Pfeiffer won All-American awards in the 400 meters and 4x400-meter relay.

Hanson used strong finishing kicks in both races to earn her All-American status. In the 1500 meters she was dead last with 300 meters to go and then powered her way to a fourth-place finish in a of 4:33.15. In the 800 meters, she once again found herself at the back of the pack, this time with only 100 meters to go in the race, she then pushed for the final time in her collegiate career and came away with a vitrtual dead heat for fifth/sixth place. After reviewing the videotape, it was ruled that she finished sixth in a time of 2:13.84.

Hanson finishes her career by holding the school record in both the 1500 meters and 800 meters. The two All-American awards are the first for Hanson after only qualifying for one other National Track and Field Championship Meet.
