Meet Recap

MOORHEAD, Minn.-- Concordia started the 2006 indoor track and field season by hosting the Cobber Open and picked up right where they left off in 2005.

The Cobbers won five events in the meet, a meet that featured athletes from NCAA Division I, Division II and top regional teams from NAIA.

Concordia senior sprint sensation Angie Pfeiffer started her final season by winning the 200 meters and anchoring the winning 4x400-meter relay team. Pfeiffer ran a 26.09 in the 200 meters to win the event by over .50 second.

Amy Ravenhorst, who also ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay team, captured the 400 meters in a time of 61.72.

A pair of senior distance runners won individual events as well for the Cobbers. Heather Schuster won the 1,000 meters by a full four seconds in a time of 3:08.52. Natalie Hansen continued her success from the fall in cross country by capturing the 3,000 meters. Her time of 10:43.72 was a full 14 seconds faster than the runner-up.

Pfeiffer and Ravenhorst combined with Alissa Bilden and Kelly Olson to post a 4:13.57 in the 4x400-meter relay and win the event going away.

The other Cobber notable came in the 5,000 meters where Maria Middleton ran a 20:00.20 to finish second in the event and post the 10th fastest time in program history in the event.

Concordia will host the Cobber Duals meet next Saturday beginning at noon.
