St. Thomas - 207.0 Meet Recap: NORTHFIELD, Minn. (5/9/09)-- Concordia continued its string of over 20 consecutive seasons with a top five finish at the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Meet on Saturday at Carleton. The Cobbers had a stellar second day and finished with 77.0 total team points to capture fourth place. Concordia used its overall depth to place in the top five for yet another season. The Cobbers did not have a single event winner at the meet but had several top three finishes and had several other athletes post top 10 finishes that enable CC to gather critical team points. Concordia junior field athlete Emily Davis led the way for the Cobbers on the second day. She finished third in the discus with a distance of 131-01.00 and then backed that up with a fourth-place finish in the hammer with a mark of 146-10.00. On the track side, sophomore Hailey Brenden recorded a third-place finish with a time of 18:00.99. That time is 22 seconds faster than her previous season best and the third fastest time in school history. Brenden also finished seventh in the 10,000-meter run on Friday with a final time of 37:55.11. The Cobber field athletes once again carried the bulk of the team scores. Besides Davis, Leah Kay finished fifth in the high jump and second in the javelin with a distance of 136-06.00. That mark is a season best and provisionally qualifies her for the national meet. Heading into the weekend that distance was the 14th best in the country. That mark is also the third farthest in program history. Kay posted those two top five finishes after placing second in the heptathlon last weekend. The javelin was the best event for the Cobbers at the MIAC Meet as CC placed three athletes in the top six. Besides Kay, Katherine Brott finished fifth (119-08.00) and Kristen Warren placed sixth (115-10.00). Warren also finished eighth in the shot put. Concordia freshman Tatijana Muller-Dahlberg had a successful first conference meet as she finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 35-0.50. That mark is a career best. Brittney Christianson capped her collegiate career by placing seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:42.98. She also finished seventh in the 800 meters with a final time of 2:32.01. Her time in the steeplechase is a season best and the fourth fastest in school history. Only two other Cobbers put up top seven finishes in running events at the meet. Kristin Slette clocked a time of 59.48 in the 400 meters and finished seventh while Alexa Kleingartner was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.52. Both those times are tops in the season for both athletes. Kleingartner's time is also a career best and the sixth fastest in program history. Concordia will now head on the road to compete in a myriad of national qualifying events as they try to qualify athletes for the national meet on May 21-23 at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.
