Meet Recap:

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/21/09)-- One week after beating St. Ben's in a dual meet at St. John's, Concordia returned to Collegeville to compete in the St. Ben's Quadrangular against the Blazers, UM Duluth and Gustavus. The Cobbers scored 133 total team points at the meet and finished in a tie for third place with CSB. UM Duluth won the meet with 172 points.

A pair of Cobber distance runners continued their successful seasons as they posted top 5 all-time program marks on Saturday. Senior Brittney Christianson ran a 5:21.07 in the mile and won the event by over 16 seconds. That time is the fifth best in school history. Joining Christianson in the winners circle was sophomore Hailey Brenden who captured the 5000 meters. Brenden clocked a 18:21.54 to win the race by almost 20 seconds. Brenden's winning mark is the second fastest in school history.

The other event winner at the meet for the Cobbers was Alexa Kleingarnter who took the 55-meter hurdles for the second straight week. Kleingartner ran a 8.83 in the finals. That time is better than .16 of a second faster than her winning time last week.

One other Concordia athlete posted a top 10 all-time mark. Sarah Peterson posted a height of 8-06.25 in the pole vault and finished in a tie for sixth place.

Kristin Slette was the only CC athlete to record a runner-up finish. Slette placed second in the 400 meters in a time of 61.22.

Concordia will continue their training for the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet when they compete in the St. Olaf Invite on Friday, Feb. 27.
