Meet Recap:

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/14/09)-- Concordia went head-to-head with conference rival St. Ben's in an intra-league dual meet and ran away with an 86-81 win over the Blazers. The Cobbers won seven events and posted several other runner-up finishes on their way to beating CSB in Collegeville on Saturday.

The win was driven by a pair of season-best performances. Alexa Kleingartner ran an 8.99 in the 55-meter hurdles and won the event by over .50 seconds. She also had a season-best in the 55 meters and finished third. For Kleingartner it was her third straight week with a top five finish in a hurdle event.

Senior Brittney Christianson followed Kleingartner's lead by posting a season best in the 1000 meters and winning the event in a time of 3:13.76. She also finished second in the mile with a season-best time of 5:21.62. Teammate Hailey Brendan finished third in the same race and also posted a season-best time of 5:27.36. Brenden also won the 3000 meters with a mark of 11:04.36.

Other event winners for Concordia included Kristina Bruns in the long jump who continues to impress in her senior season. She recorded a distance of 16-1.00. Bruns also placed second in the triple jump. Sophomore Alyssa Deutschmann won the high jump with a height of 4-10.25. The Cobbers also had two other field event wins. In a positive note for Marv Roeske's crew, freshman Tessa Comstock cleared 8-10.25 in the pole vault and won the event by six inches. That is the best height for a CC athlete since the 2004 season and puts her in a tie for eighth place on the school's all-time pole vault list. Sophomore Kierstin Nygaard won the shot put with a mark of 35-02.50. That was .50 inches better than teammate Kristin Warren who finished second (35-02.00).

Concordia will return to Collegeville next Saturday to compete in the CSB/SJU Quadrangular Meet beginning at 1 p.m.
