Meet Recap:

FARGO, N.D. (2/23/07)-- You'll have to forgive Cobber senior Heather Schuster if she doesn't seem too enthused after another season-best performance. It's just that every time she steps on the indoor track to race, she ends up besting her previous times and continues to set the bar even higher for the next meet.

Schuster and the rest of the snowbound Concordia women's track and field team that didn't make the spring break trip to New York traveled to NDSU to compete in the Dakota Duals Meet on Friday in Fargo, N.D.

Schuster had her moment of success in the 800 meters as she cruised to a 2:16.51 in the 800 meters which porvisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Division III National Meet. The provisional qualifying standard was 2:16.90. That time was almost a full second faster than her previous best and is the fastest time in the MIAC this season. It is also the 15th quickest time in the nation in 2007.

Freshman Leah Kay didn't allow Schuster to block all the limelight. Kay posted a height of 5-03.00 in the high jump to better her season-best mark by two inches. That height ties for the third best mark in the conference this season and is only 1.50 inches away from the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

Another highlight for the Cobbers came in the triple jump where Amanda Bakken set a career-best by leaping to a distance of 30-04.25.

Concordia will next compete in the MIAC Championship Meet on Mar. 2-3 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
