Meet Recap:

NEW YORK, N.Y. (2/23/07)-- The Concordia women's track and field team started their spring break by competing at the NYU Fastrack Invitational in New York on Friday. The Cobbers posted several successful performances as they competed on a banked track for the first time in the modern era of Cobbers women's track and field.

Kelly Olson was one of several Cobber athletes who posted season-best marks at the meet. Olson ran a 1:01.17 in the 400 meters. It beat her old season-best mark of 62.25 and is the fastest time run by any CC athlete this season. It is also the fifth fastest time recorded in the MIAC in 2007.

Kristin Slette ran a 1:20.57 to finish in eighth place in the 500 meters. It was the first time she had run the event this year and tied for the highest Cobber individual finish at the meet.

Anna Hagen bettered her best time of the season in the 1000 meters by over six seconds. She ran a 3:11.00 and finished 20th. Fellow distance teammate Rachel Charpentier also bested her season-best time. She ran a 5:25.89 in the mile run and finished 13th.

Concordia had a trio of athletes set season-best marks in the 60-meter hurdles. Anna Skauge recorded a time of 10.23 and finished 14th in the event. That is the fastest time by any CC athletes this season. Abby Scheel was right behind Skauge and ran a season-best 10.31. Amber Schackman followed up her teammates with a 10.49.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Olson, Alissa Bilden, Slette and Kaitlin Anderson posted a time of 4:09.27 and finished in sixth place. That time is also the fastest of the season for any CC quartet and is the second best in the MIAC.

Anderson also placed ninth in the high jump by recording a career-best height of 5-01.00. That mark is also ties for the top mark by any Cobber this year and is tied for the sixth best in the conference.

Finally, Sarah Sorvaag equaled Slette's eight-place finish by ending with a final distance of 43-01.75 in the weight throw. That distance bettered her season-best by almost a foot and is currently the ninth best in the conference this year.

Concordia will return home to compete in the MIAC Championship Meet on Mar. 2-3 at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
