Meet Recap:

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/10/07)-- Concordia returned to their winning ways as they claimed the victory at the St. Ben's Triangular Meet on Saturday. It is the first meet win of the year for the Cobbers who continue to show their progress throughout the early stages of their season.

The Cobbers finished with a final team score of 149.50 points which narrowly edged out the host Blazers who came up with a final total of 144.50. St. Kate's finished third in the meet with a team total of 46.0 points.

Concordia was spurred on to the win from the help of seven different individual event wins.

The Cobber sprint and middle distance team members helped the cause by winning every race from the 55-meter hurdles through the 800 meters and then also the mile run.

CC freshman Tara Ray started the individual event onslaught by winning the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 9.35. Kristin Slette then followed by capturing the 200 meters with a winning time of 27.95.

Kelly Olson came next with the most dramatic win of the day. She edged Anne Redmon of St. Ben's by a mere .35 seconds to win the 400 meters in a time of 62.25.

Making her case as one of the top middle distance runners in the conference this season, Heather Schuster won the 600 meters by almost a full four seconds. She finished with a time of 1:39.92 to win her second middle distance event of the season. She also won the 800 meters at the season-opening Concordia Invitational.

Sophomore Anna Valan capped the five-event winning streak for CC when she claimed the title in the 800 meters with a mark 2:33.26.

After having their streak stopped in the 1000 meters, Rachel Charpentier got CC back on track by winning the mile run. The all-conference cross-country runner posted a time of 5:31.80 to win the race by over seven seconds.

The final event-winner for Concordia was Sarah Sorvaag in the weight throw. The junior recorded a distance of  41-1 to earn her first win of the year.
