Matchday Match Recap

MOORHEAD, Minn.-- Concordia lost all three doubles matches and fell 5-4 to MSU Moorhead at home on Tuesday. The Cobbers had a 4-2 advantage in singles play but weren't able to overcome the 0-3 hole created by the doubles portion of the match and fell for the sixth straight time this season.

All three of the doubles matches in the meet were decided by three or less games, and the Cobbers were leading late in the match in two of the three. The Dragon's ability to rally in the doubles matches helped them to the victory.

In singles play, Mollie Miller had the most dramatic victory of the night for Concordia. She dropped the first set 5-7 and was down 3-0 in the second set, but then came roaring back to grab the set 6-4 and win the superset 10-6. She was part of a quartet of Cobber wins in singles play.

Beth Meier claimed a win at the #1 singles spot by getting a straight set 7-6, 6-3 decision over Rose Milless. Kelsey Schendel narrowly edged Alyssa Schafer at #3 singles by winning 10-8 in the superset. Leigh Bonemeyer was the other singles victor for the Cobbers. She beat Beth Helgeson 6-3, 6-1 in the most lopsided singles match of the night.

Concordia will return to the court Sunday, Mar. 12 when they play perennial league power Gustavus at 10:00am and then turn around and play St. Mary's at 2:30pm. Both matches will be played in St. Cloud, Minn.
