Matchday Match Recap
FARGO, N.D-- Concordia captured the first doubles match against St. Olaf but then dropped six of the next eight matches and lost 6-3 to the Oles.

Despite the loss, the Cobber women's tennis team continues to show improvement over the 2006 campaign under first-year head coach Troy Hanestad. Lat year, Concordia played the Oles twice and lost by identical 9-0 deficits. After posting their first victory of the season on Wednesday against the University of Mary, the Cobbers battled throughout all nine matches against St. Olaf and were able to take three points away from the Oles.

Concordia falls to 1-9 on the year and 0-8 in conference play. St. Olaf improves to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the MIAC.

The Cobbers' lone win in doubles came from the #1 team of Beth Meier and Katie Luther. They downed Emily Eggert and Jonie Steffen 8-6. For Meier and Luther it was their second straight win at #1 doubles and moves their overall record to 3-4.

The other two victories for Concordia came in singles play. Meier backed up her doubles win with a 6-2, 7-5 over Steffen at #2 singles. Meier is now 3-5 on the year in singles play. Freshman Mollie Miller grabbed the other Concordia win. She won 6-2, 6-3 over Kruta Gerweroth at #6 singles. Miller upped her season record to 3-6.

The Cobbers will host Macalester on Mar. 25 at 9:00am in the Olson Forum.
