Troy Hanestad is in his fourth year as head coach of the Concordia women's tennis team. He was hired in the winter of 2006. He is also the head men's tennis coach at Concordia, assuming that position after the completion of the 2006 spring season.
Troy brings a wide variety of coaching experience and knowledge to the position. He has been the head boys' and girls' tennis coach at Thief River Falls High School since 1998. During that time he was honored with the Minnesota State High School League Coaches Association (MSHLCA) Class A Boys' Tennis Coach of the Year.
He has also served as an Instructor at the Prowler Tennis Academy since 1999 and is a certified USTPA tennis professional.
Along with his coaching duties at Thief River Falls High School, Troy is also a Physical Education Specialist for graded K-8.
Troy also brings a wealth of coaching experience from high school hockey to the position. He was the head girls' varsity coach at Thief River Falls High School from 1999-2001. Before that he was the assistant varsity hockey coach at Willmar High School from 1995-97.
Troy received his Bachelor's Degree from Bemidji State University in 1995. He majored in Physical Education and earned his K-12 Physical Education Licensure.
Troy is very active outside the classroom and playing arena as well. He served on the Minnesota DAPE Leadership Committee from 1996-99 and was a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leader from 2002-04.
He and his wife Jenny, and their three children, Christian, Annika, Noah and Elizabeth, live in Moorhead.
