PETER, Minn. (5/01/09)-- Concordia finished off the 2009 season by stepping up one more rung on the experience ladder. After making the MIAC Tournament for the first time in program history, the Cobbers competed in the postseason and gained a valuable lesson as they fell to St. Olaf 8-1. Concordia recorded their only point of the match at No.2 doubles where Ayah Kamel and Ashley Leister posted an 8-6 win. That victory gave the pair a team-best 12 doubles wins on the year. Kamel and Leister finished the year with a 12-7 mark. They also had a team-best five wins against MIAC opponents. The singles matches were all St. Olaf as the Cobbers were unable to get on the board and had to shuffle their lineup due to a scheduling conflict. The closest singles match came at No.1 singles where Concordia freshman Andrea Rognlien dropped the first set in a tiebreaker 7-3. That setback led to a straight set loss. As a team Concordia finished the year with 13 overall wins. That is the second most in program history. The Cobbers also posted five wins in the MIAC which is more than the past five seasons combined. CC will return all but one player off of the team that competed in the quarterfinal match which should lead to a bright future.
