Match Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/25/09)-- Concordia swept all nine matches and cruised to a 9-0 win over Bethel on Saturday in Moorhead. The win is the 12th of the season for the Cobbers which is the second most in program history. CC is now 12-4 overall and 4-3 in league play.

The conference win keeps Concordia for their first-ever MIAC playoff spot since the league went to a six-team playoff format in 2007. The Cobbers are currently in fifth place in the league standings.

The day was all Concordia as they swept the doubles competition. The Cobbers' No.1 doubles team of Andrea Rognlien and Katie Edin won 8-4 to record their ninth win of the year. Ayah Kamel and Ashley Leister, the team's No.2 doubles tandem, did them one better by edging out a 9-8 (8-6) win to post their team-leading 10th doubles victory on the year.

In singles play, all six Concordia players posted straight set wins. Rognlien won 7-5, 6-3 at No.1 singles to earn her team-leading 11th win of the year. Leister won 6-0, 6-4 at No.4 singles and has now won four straight matches.

The Cobbers have seven players with at least seven singles wins on the year. That is in sharp comparison to last year when they only had three and is more than the past 10 years combined.

Concordia will look to take one step closer to the conference playoffs when they host St. Ben's on Sunday, Apr. 26 at 11 a.m. at Courts Plus in Fargo. The match time and location have been changed due to the rainy weather that is expected in the F-M area on Sunday.
