Match Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/15/09)-- Concordia won all three doubles matches against MSU Moorhead on Wednesday and hung on to claim a 5-4 win over the Dragons. It was the third straight win for the Cobbers over MSU M. The win was also Concordia's 10th of the season marking the first time since the 1994 season that they have won 10 matches in a single season.

Concordia (10-2) started the match by claiming all three double bouts. Head coach Troy Hanestad juggled the No.2 and No.3 doubles teams. The No.1 tandem of Andrea Rognlien and Katie Edin cruised to an 8-4 win. The newly formed doubles team of Amy Freeman and Melanie Gail also posted an 8-4 win at No.3 doubles. At No.2 doubles Hanestad paired Ayah Kamel with senior Mollie Miller and the duo held on for a 9-7 win.

Leading 3-0 heading into singles play the Cobbers needed to only grab two singles wins to earn the overall match victory and that is what they did. Rognlien won in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) at No.1 singles and Ashley Leister posted the most lopsided singles margin of the day as she won 6-1, 6-3 at No.4 singles. Rognlien is now a team-leading 9-2 on the year and has won two straight matches. Leister upped her season record to 5-6 and has also won two straight.

MSU Moorhead (4-6) claimed two of their four singles wins in the super-set tiebreaker.

The Cobbers will now host a pair of conference matches over the weekend. Concordia will square off against St. Mary's on Saturday, Apr. 18 and then play Carleton on Sunday, Apr. 19.
