Singles competition Match Notes : Concordia College 3-8 Bemidji State University 5-12 Match Recap: MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/01/08)-- Concordia continued its home court advantage on Tuesday by beating Bemidji State 7-2 in Moorhead. The Cobbers are now 3-8 on the year and all three wins have come at home. CC is 3-2 while playing at home. Concordia took control of the match during the doubles matches. The Cobbers won the No.2 and No.3 doubles bouts and were up 7-2 in the No.1 doubles match before the Beavers staged a huge comeback to post a 9-7 win. The No.2 doubles team of Mollie Miller and Anna Matetich made sure there would be no dramatics as they posted a n 8-4 win. The No.3 doubles tandem of Lyndsi Tufte and Amy Freeman needed to go to the tie-breaker to settle their match. The Cobber two-some won 9-8 (7-5) to give CC a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. The singles matches were more of the same as Concordia came away with five wins. Miller, Tufte and Freeman all claimed singles wins to go with their doubles victories. CC freshman Tufte scored the most dramatic win in singles play. She was down 5-2 in the first set and 5-1 in the second set in her match at No.3 singles and rallied to win 7-6 (5), 7-5. Melanie Gail won her second straight match at No.5 singles and earned her team-leading sixth singles victory. Senior Kelsey Schendel capped the win by posting a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win at No.6 singles. The Cobbers will return to MIAC play when they travel to Arden Hills, Minn. to take on Bethel on Apr. 5 at 10 a.m. CC will finish off their doubleheader weekend by playing at St. Ben's on Apr. 6 at 3:30 p.m.
